Heat Pump Installation

A heat pump system not only offers the convenience of both heating and cooling from a single unit but can also help reduce your energy bills. Let us help you navigate the installation process for your new heat pump.

Heat pumps are classified according to how they transfer heat into or out of your home. It’s essential to research and understand these types before making a decision, ensuring you choose a heat pump system that aligns with your needs and budget.

Here are the common types of heat pumps available:

Air-Source Heat Pump: This type is widely used and works by extracting heat from the outside air to heat your home and vice versa for cooling.

Ground-Source Heat Pump: Also known as geothermal heat pumps, these systems utilize the stable temperature of the ground or groundwater to provide heating and cooling.

Water-Source Heat Pump: These systems use a body of water, such as a lake or pond, as a heat exchange source, offering efficient heating and cooling.

Hybrid Heat Pump Systems: These systems combine the features of air-source heat pumps with another heating technology, optimizing energy use and cost-effectiveness based on external conditions.

Central AC Installation

While air conditioning may have once been considered a luxury in BC, it’s increasingly becoming a necessity due to the region’s hotter summers. Air conditioners are crucial for safeguarding against the severe impacts of heat waves. Allow our expert HVAC technicians to assist you in selecting the ideal air conditioner that fits your home, needs, and budget.

Here are some options you might consider:

Dual Fuel AC: This system combines a heat pump with a gas furnace, providing efficient heating and cooling by automatically switching between fuel sources based on temperature.

Packaged Central AC: These units house all the components—compressor, condenser, and evaporator—in a single outdoor unit, making them ideal for homes with limited indoor space.

All Electric Central AC: A system that relies solely on electricity, perfect for homes without access to natural gas and those seeking a more environmentally friendly option.

Ductless Mini Split Installation

Ductless mini splits are heat pump systems that offer superior control over heating and cooling on a room-by-room basis. They are incredibly flexible and ideal for both houses and condos. Let us help you find the best options to suit your specific needs and budget.

Here are the types you can consider:

Single-Zone Ductless Mini Splits: These are designed to heat or cool a single room, making them perfect for targeting specific areas in your home that need temperature regulation.

Multi-Zone Ductless Mini Splits: These systems can control the temperature in multiple rooms independently, providing a tailored heating and cooling solution across different spaces in your home.

Tony has been very responsive and walked me through the necessary steps to install a heat pump for cooling on top of an existing furnace. He took his time to explain the process and options for a installation job that some providers had no idea how to or shied away from. He accommodated my change in schedule as well. Tony and his crew showed up on time, completed the work on schedule and cleaned up quite well. We haven't had a chance to use the heat pump yet, but it was working well when tested. I wouldn't hesitate to contact Tony again.

Call Tony up about the furnace making a very unusual loud noise. He came in the day after diagnosis the problem, he have to go drive all the way to surrey from Vancouver to pick up the parts. He came in at 1pm and finished at 5pm. That's very efficient. And I never seen a guy that is so tidy and clean after he performed work in his professions . So he should be at 6 stars ratings

Tony and his team at TAK Heating and Cooling have completed three jobs for my house and rental house. They recently completed a hot water replacement for my house and installed a full AC unit back in 2022. More importantly, Tony came right away when my rental house's furnace stopped working and fixed the issue providing heat to my tenants again. What separates Tony and TAK Heating to other competitors is that he takes the time to make sure you understand exactly what the issue is and how to fix it, and follows up with you to make sure that all products installed is working properly and that you are satisfied with the service completed. He is very knowledgable and very easy to work with. I highly recommend Tony and his team for all of our heating and cooling needs.

We had a great experience with Tak Heating and Cooling today after they were recommended by a neighbour. I texted Tony at 7am as our 20+ yr old furnace had broken on one of the coldest nights of the year. He responded right away and him and Henry were at our home within a few hours. They diagnosed the problem right away (a broken reducer motor), set out to pick up replacement parts and had our furnace back up and running within a couple hours. Tony's communication and customer service was top notch. He is so polite and friendly. All costs were quoted ahead of time and the scope of work to be completed was explained before it took place. Appointment confirmation, quotes, invoices and receipts were all provided by emailed in a very timely manner. My husband and I felt confident in the quality of work we received and would recommend Tak to anyone needing HVAC services! Thank you Tony and Henry!

Coquitlam AC Repair FAQs

Is it worth repairing an AC unit?

Whether it’s worth repairing an AC unit depends on several factors, including the age of the unit, the extent of the damage or malfunction, and the cost of repairs compared to the cost of replacement. In many cases, minor repairs can extend the lifespan of your AC unit and restore its cooling efficiency. However, if your AC unit is older, experiencing frequent breakdowns, or requires costly repairs that approach or exceed the cost of a new unit, it may be more economical in the long run to invest in a replacement. A professional HVAC technician can assess your AC unit’s condition and provide recommendations based on your specific circumstances.

Why does AC repair cost so much?

The cost of AC repair reflects the expertise, labor, and materials required to diagnose and fix complex issues with your cooling system. HVAC technicians undergo extensive training to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of AC problems, from compressor failures to refrigerant leaks. Additionally, the cost of replacement parts, such as motors, capacitors, or refrigerant, can contribute to the overall expense of repairs. Furthermore, the complexity of modern AC systems, including advanced electronics and intricate components, can require specialized tools and equipment to properly diagnose and repair issues. While AC repair costs may seem significant, investing in professional repairs ensures your cooling system operates safely and efficiently, providing reliable comfort during hot summer months.

What is the most expensive part to replace on an AC unit?

One of the most expensive parts to replace on an AC unit is typically the compressor. The compressor is responsible for circulating refrigerant through the system, pressurizing it to absorb heat from your home’s air and then releasing it outside. Compressor failures are relatively common in AC systems and can result from factors such as electrical issues, refrigerant leaks, or mechanical wear and tear. Repairing or replacing a faulty compressor can be a significant expense due to the complexity of the repair and the importance of ensuring proper functionality and efficiency. It’s essential to consult with a qualified HVAC technician to assess the condition of your compressor and determine the most cost-effective solution for your AC repair needs.

How many years will an AC last?

The lifespan of an AC unit varies depending on factors such as usage patterns, maintenance, and environmental conditions. On average, a well-maintained central air conditioning system can last between 10 to 15 years. However, some units may last longer with proper care and regular maintenance, while others may experience premature failure due to neglect or environmental factors. Routine maintenance, such as annual inspections, filter replacements, and cleaning, can help extend the lifespan of your AC unit and ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency. As your AC unit approaches the end of its lifespan, it’s essential to consider replacement options to avoid unexpected breakdowns and ensure continued comfort and reliability in your home.

What is the difference between an AC system and a heat pump system?

An AC system only does cooling, whereas a heat pump does both heating and cooling.

Which system is more efficient, AC or heat pump?

Heat pumps are generally more efficient due to inverter technology in the compressor.

How long does it take to install an AC system?

Depending on the layout of the house, an AC installation typically takes 1 to 2 days to install.

What would I need to consider when purchasing an AC system?

It is recommended to have a heat load calculation performed to properly size the system. Other considerations include the placement of the outdoor unit, sound level of the AC unit and electrical to power up the AC.
