Heat Pump Installation

A heat pump system not only offers the convenience of both heating and cooling from a single unit but can also help reduce your energy bills. Let us help you navigate the installation process for your new heat pump.

Heat pumps are classified according to how they transfer heat into or out of your home. It’s essential to research and understand these types before making a decision, ensuring you choose a heat pump system that aligns with your needs and budget.

Here are the common types of heat pumps available:

Air-Source Heat Pump: This type is widely used and works by extracting heat from the outside air to heat your home and vice versa for cooling.

Ground-Source Heat Pump: Also known as geothermal heat pumps, these systems utilize the stable temperature of the ground or groundwater to provide heating and cooling.

Water-Source Heat Pump: These systems use a body of water, such as a lake or pond, as a heat exchange source, offering efficient heating and cooling.

Hybrid Heat Pump Systems: These systems combine the features of air-source heat pumps with another heating technology, optimizing energy use and cost-effectiveness based on external conditions.

Ductless Mini Split Installation

Ductless mini splits are heat pump systems that offer superior control over heating and cooling on a room-by-room basis. They are incredibly flexible and ideal for both houses and condos. Let us help you find the best options to suit your specific needs and budget.

Here are the types you can consider:

Single-Zone Ductless Mini Splits: These are designed to heat or cool a single room, making them perfect for targeting specific areas in your home that need temperature regulation.

Multi-Zone Ductless Mini Splits: These systems can control the temperature in multiple rooms independently, providing a tailored heating and cooling solution across different spaces in your home.

Boiler Installation

Boilers are intricate hydronic heating systems that warm your home by circulating hot water through radiators, baseboards, or underfloor radiant heating systems. Regardless of the type of boiler system installed in your home, we can assist in finding options that best meet your heating needs and budget.

Here are some boiler types to consider:

High Efficiency Boilers: These boilers are designed to maximize energy use, reducing fuel consumption and lowering utility bills while providing effective heating.

Electric Boilers: Ideal for homes that lack access to natural gas, these boilers use electricity to heat water and are known for their simplicity and safety.

Gas Boilers: These are popular for their efficiency and cost-effectiveness, using natural gas as a fuel source to heat water which then heats your home.

Combination Boilers: Also known as combi boilers, these units provide both hot water and space heating from a single device, saving space and potentially reducing energy costs.

Furnace Installation

Furnaces are forced-air heating systems that warm your home by circulating warm air through ducts in the floors, walls, and ceilings. Whether you’re currently using a natural gas furnace or need an upgrade from an oil furnace, we can help find options that best fit your home, needs, and budget.

Here are some furnace types to consider:

High Efficiency Furnaces: These furnaces are designed to maximize energy use, minimizing fuel consumption and reducing heating costs while effectively warming your home.

Oil Furnaces: Ideal for areas where natural gas is not readily available, oil furnaces provide reliable heating and are known for their longevity and robust performance.

Natural Gas Furnaces: Popular for their efficiency and cost-effectiveness, these furnaces use natural gas to generate heat, making them a preferred choice in many homes.

Electric Furnaces: These furnaces use electricity to produce heat and are typically simpler in design and quieter than other types. They are often used where natural gas is not available.

Tony has been very responsive and walked me through the necessary steps to install a heat pump for cooling on top of an existing furnace. He took his time to explain the process and options for a installation job that some providers had no idea how to or shied away from. He accommodated my change in schedule as well. Tony and his crew showed up on time, completed the work on schedule and cleaned up quite well. We haven't had a chance to use the heat pump yet, but it was working well when tested. I wouldn't hesitate to contact Tony again.

Call Tony up about the furnace making a very unusual loud noise. He came in the day after diagnosis the problem, he have to go drive all the way to surrey from Vancouver to pick up the parts. He came in at 1pm and finished at 5pm. That's very efficient. And I never seen a guy that is so tidy and clean after he performed work in his professions . So he should be at 6 stars ratings

Tony and his team at TAK Heating and Cooling have completed three jobs for my house and rental house. They recently completed a hot water replacement for my house and installed a full AC unit back in 2022. More importantly, Tony came right away when my rental house's furnace stopped working and fixed the issue providing heat to my tenants again. What separates Tony and TAK Heating to other competitors is that he takes the time to make sure you understand exactly what the issue is and how to fix it, and follows up with you to make sure that all products installed is working properly and that you are satisfied with the service completed. He is very knowledgable and very easy to work with. I highly recommend Tony and his team for all of our heating and cooling needs.

We had a great experience with Tak Heating and Cooling today after they were recommended by a neighbour. I texted Tony at 7am as our 20+ yr old furnace had broken on one of the coldest nights of the year. He responded right away and him and Henry were at our home within a few hours. They diagnosed the problem right away (a broken reducer motor), set out to pick up replacement parts and had our furnace back up and running within a couple hours. Tony's communication and customer service was top notch. He is so polite and friendly. All costs were quoted ahead of time and the scope of work to be completed was explained before it took place. Appointment confirmation, quotes, invoices and receipts were all provided by emailed in a very timely manner. My husband and I felt confident in the quality of work we received and would recommend Tak to anyone needing HVAC services! Thank you Tony and Henry!

Coquitlam Furnace Repair FAQs

What is the most expensive part to fix on a furnace?

The costliest component to repair on a furnace often depends on the specific issue. However, one of the most expensive parts to fix is typically the heat exchanger. This critical component is responsible for transferring heat from the combustion chamber to the air in your home. Repairing or replacing a damaged heat exchanger can be a significant expense due to the complexity of the repair and the importance of ensuring proper functionality and safety.

Is it worth fixing a furnace?

Whether it’s worth fixing a furnace depends on various factors, including the age of the furnace, the extent of the damage or malfunction, and the cost of repairs compared to the cost of replacement. In many cases, minor repairs or maintenance can extend the lifespan of your furnace and restore its efficiency and performance. However, if your furnace is old, experiencing frequent breakdowns, or requires costly repairs that approach or exceed the cost of a new unit, it may be more economical in the long run to invest in a replacement.

Why is my furnace running but there is no heat?

Several issues could cause your furnace to run without producing heat. Common reasons include a malfunctioning thermostat, a clogged air filter restricting airflow, a faulty ignitor or pilot light, or a problem with the gas supply or burner assembly. Additionally, issues with the blower motor or fan can prevent warm air from circulating properly throughout your home. To diagnose and address the problem accurately, it’s best to consult with a qualified HVAC technician who can identify the root cause and perform the necessary repairs.

What is a common failure for a furnace?

One common failure for furnaces is a malfunctioning or worn-out ignitor. The ignitor is responsible for igniting the gas burner to generate heat. Over time, ignitors can become dirty, cracked, or fail altogether, resulting in a furnace that won’t produce heat. Another common issue is a faulty thermostat, which can prevent the furnace from turning on or off at the appropriate times or maintaining consistent temperature levels. Regular maintenance and prompt repairs can help prevent these common failures and ensure your furnace operates reliably and efficiently.

My furnace is not heating, what can I check?

A few things homeowners can check for is the power, furnace filter and thermostat. Double check or reset the furnace power from the electrical breaker panel. Replace the furnace filter to ensure proper air flow is going through your system. Change the batteries on your thermostat. If everything here has been checked, it’s recommended to call an expert HVAC technician to diagnose the issue.

Is it worth repairing a furnace?

Depending on the furnace age and part. As time goes by, some parts on furnaces turn obsolete with no alternative solution to repair. The price of repair on the furnace varies depending on the part required for replacement. If your furnace has a heat exchanger or intermittent heating issue, an investment towards a new furnace installation may be a better option.

What should I do when I smell gas?

Turn off the gas valve, open some windows and call a licensed technician to diagnose if there’s a leak.

My furnace is noisy, what can it be?

Plugged filter, faulty blower motor/assembly, faulty inducer motor
